Wakatobi, Hoga Island

Hoga beach, WakatobiHoga Beach from Pak Kasim Resort, WakatobiHoga Island is truly a paradise in which you can relax and unwind. Hoga is a small island in the heart of the Wakatobi with no roads and only one small fishing village, which is a half hour walk away from the home stay where you will stay. At night time the stars are amazing and if you take a stroll along the beach you will see trees alight full of fireflies. One of the great pastimes in the evening is to take a walk along the beach in the splash zone and watch your footprints light up with the bio-luminescence. There are small kabanna's where you can relax in a hammock and watch the colourful sunsets. We often make campfires on the beach in the evenings, where you can sit, chat and take in the stars, a great way to relax after a days diving!

Alam Wakatobi

This is a small locally run Wakatobi business offering traditional style bungalows on wooden stilts set back from the beach. Each bungalow has its own small mandi style bathroom and a large veranda where you can relax. Beds are equipped with mosquito nets. There is limited electricity on the island so kerosene lamps are often used at night time and it is advisable to bring a torch/flash light. Sometimes a generator runs from 6pm to 11pm providing each bungalow with lighting and sockets (enabling you to charge camera batteries, and hand phones etc). Three meals a day, tea, coffee and drinking water are all included in the price, which is Rp 150,000 per person per day.

Alam Wakatobi facilities are used as a Marine Research Base by Operation Wallacea, an English Conservation and Marine Biology Research Organisation for a 10 week period during July and August each year and so they are not open to other guests at this time. Outside of this 10 week period they are happy to accommodate individuals and groups of divers. This year (2011) the base will be closed between June 22nd and Sept 5th.

Alam Wakatobi has 5 dive boats and 60 sets of well maintained and regularly serviced dive equipment which is available for rental. They have local Indonesian Divemaster guides and a wealth of experience.
